The highlight of the week was certainly a ceramic workshop I went to with my girlfriend, and it turned out, my god, we are talented, not that it was ever doubted, of course.

Short reads
The birth of my daughter, the death of my marriage
In the restful houses of women who live alone
How it feels to be told ‘it’s all in your head’ for 20 years
The complicated beauty of the Persian nose
I walked to work for a year – and it changed everything
I also loved this analysis of Judy Chicago’s Dinner Party, an installation I would really like to see for myself.
Someone recommended me to listen to People who knew me (I haven’t yet but the premise seems interesting to say the least: a story narrated by Rosamund Pike follows a woman who used 9/11 to fake her own death.
I also stumbled on this love letter to Alexa Chang. I remember it circulating around Tumblr what seems like a life ago. It’s tender and beautiful and a reminder to young men everywhere to write love letters.
Books
I started ‘Outrun’ by Amy Liptrot and so far am loving it. At the core of the memoir is Liptrot's battle with addiction and her journey to recovery. It serves as a sort of testament to the healing power of nature, as Liptrot finds strength in the Orkney Islands, a character in its own right. It’s slowly paced but the storytelling is beautiful, raw and honest, and that’s what I usually look for in the memoirs.
Do you remember everyone’s obsession with ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne? I now read ‘The Power’ and it’s practically the same things. In general I have a healthy mind but lately it’s bit slightly succumbed to anxiety from things like, for example, this (90 seconds to midnight, the closest yet), and this type of books help me battle it. I am a huge believer in the power of mind, however have not mastered the skills yet.
I keep ordering books I have no time to read and cookbooks I have no time to cook from. Actually, I take it back, if Rhonda Byrne taught me anything is to focus on what I do have. And what I do have is lot’s of books (more coming) and a new Billy cabinet. Fun fact about me, I LOVE building IKEA and strongly prefer to do it with a glass of wine and without help.
TV
A few days ago, while cooking, I watched an episode of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City (my first housewives episode ever) and immediately felt both brain dead and overstimulated (that’s how they get you). Luckily I stopped, but how is no one talking about the lady pastor who married her old step grandfather after her grandmother died?? I have to discuss it with someone! Even typing this sentence was insane, by the way. No sci fi will ever have story as crazy as real life.
Speaking of sci fi, I started watching Dark, German series, and it’s beyond amazing. The lever of narrative complexity is fascinating and I only hope the resolution will stay on par. I would have finished it in a day but we are watching together with Fredrik, and he is not exactly a binger.
Things I cooked this week:
sourdough bread
miso creamed beans with mushrooms and chives (strongly recommend!)
And to finish up, things I googled this week:
herring under fur coat layers (doesn’t matter how many times I make it, I simply do not remember)
how to attach ceramic boobs on a mug
